MACRO-EVOLUTION IS A FAITH-BASED RELIGION

Letter to Editor, Farmville Herald
This letter is in response to the pro-evolution letter of
3-1-06.
An earlier letter supporting intelligent design, clearly
identifies Stephen Gould (who believes in more "RAPID"
change) as an evolutionist. In his final book, Carl Sagan,
another evolutionist, described the theory of evolution as
the doctrine that "human beings (and all the other
species) have SLOWLY evolved by natural processes...."
According to a 1994 essay in the New York Review of Books,
John M. Smith, the "dean" of British neo-Darwinists, sees
Gould as "so confused as to be hardly worth bothering
with...." (See Philip Johnson, Prof. of Law, U. Cal,
Berkley, "The Unraveling of Scientific Materialism." 3.)
When two prominent evolutionists can't agree on something
as fundamental as the speed of the purported
macro-evolutionary process, it is clear that these men are
making judgments on the basis of FAITH, not fact.
What about the second law of thermodynamics? In terms of
organic life, it is clear that an open system, with access
to the sun's energy, in and of itself, does not generate
long-term growth and organization. The sun's energy may
bathe a pile of steel from now on, but that steel will
never become a functioning automobile and, most certainly,
not a living, organic entity. Availability of energy (by
the first law of thermodynamics) does not stop the basic
principal of decay (by the second law of thermodynamics.)
"Quantity of energy is not the question, but quality."
(Edward Blick. Ph.D. Evolution and the Second Law of
Thermodynamics, 3.) As Dr. Henry Morris writes, in the
case of a plant, for example, there must be a coded system
for its growth written into its template or code. Where
does this code come from? Human experience dictates that
"A code always requires an intelligent coder," an
intelligent designer. (Henry Morris, Evolution or Entropy,
1973.) To believe that such living, organic marvels as
plants and animals could come about by chance takes more
faith than many objective thinkers can muster.
The snowflake is a product of an intelligently designed,
finely tuned eco-system. Where is the verifiable evidence
for an inorganic snowflake evolving into an organic,
living snowflake? Where is the evidence for dust evolving
into a living entity? To believe that such has happened or
is happening, is a position based on pure FAITH, not fact.
In summary, "Evolution is a fairy tale for grown-ups. This
theory has helped nothing in the progress of science. It
is useless." (Bounoure, Le Monde Et La Vie (October, 1963;
Director of Research at the National Center of Scientific
Research, France.)
Clearly, macro-evolution has entered into the realm of
faith and religion. Therefore, in the public schools of
Virginia, the teaching of Darwinian evolution should have
the same restrictions placed upon it that other religions
have placed upon them.
Macro-evolution is a FAITH-BASED RELIGION; not a
fact-based science..
