1. Bible Commentary, Vol. 6,
p. 1096, Ellen White writes: "They (the Christian world)
do not see that it was only the ceremonial law which was
abrogated at the death of Christ."
2. Selected Messages, p.
239, Ellen White again writes: ". . . it was only the
ceremonial law which was abrogated at the death of
Christ." |
After the ceremonial (Levitical)
law was replaced by the death of Christ, the early
Church was successfully launched and sustained by
free-will giving, not tithe.
1. "Freely have ye
received, freely give." Matt. 10:8.
2. Paul preaches
the gospel free, without charge. (Note: Even if Paul had
believed that the Ceremonial laws were still in effect
after the death of Christ, he could not legally have
accepted tithes, for he was of the tribe of Benjamin,
not the tribe of Levi.) "What is my reward then? That
when I preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of
Christ without charge, that I may not abuse my authority
in the gospel." 1 Cor. 9:18.
3. "The Lord loveth
a cheerful giver." 2 Cor. 9:7. (Note: One need not give
less following the Apostolic method of financing the
gospel.)
