    Dear Editor:

Recently there has been discussion in your Letters’ column concerning what Christ said and didn’t say concerning abortion and homosexuality. The Bible makes clear that (1) whatever is written in Scripture is from God and (2) that Christ is God.

Here are several Biblical passages to support this assertion:
        1. “I and the Father are one….” John 10: 30-33.
        2. “Before Abraham was born, I am….” (Christ is from the beginning, eternal.)
        3. “He who beholds me beholds the One Who sent me….” John 12: 44-46.
        4. “He who has seen me has seen the Father…. John 14: 6-9.
        5. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction….” 2 Timothy 3:16.

What does Scripture say about abortion? Read Exodus 21: 22-26. The passage notes that if men fighting strike a pregnant mother and cause an early birth, they are to be punished by law, but if this child dies at birth, the ones responsible shall give “life for life.” Also, the sixth of the Ten Commandments states: “Thou shall not kill (murder.) Taking the life of an innocent child, inside or outside the womb, is murder.

What does Scripture say about homosexuality? Although much is written, here are several texts that address homosexuality. It is called an “abomination.” Man lying with man is an “abomination.” Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13. In the Bible, sodomy is synonymous with homosexuality. Sodomy is forbidden. Deuteronomy 23:17. Also, Romans 1: 26, 27 condemns homosexuality between women.

The Bible teaches that Christ is God, and that “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God.” Therefore, whatever is written in Scripture is from Christ as well as from God the Father.
